Health & safety

Before you come

• Have your QR ticket ready on your phone (and charge it).
• Wear comfortable shoes and light clothing. Bring sunscreen, a hat and a light rain layer.
• If you have a medical condition, carry any medication you need and tell a friend in your group.
• Plan how you'll get home. Ride-hailing pick-up points will be signposted at the venue.

Heat and weather

December in Lagos is hot and humid, and Harmattan haze is possible. There will be shaded areas and seating. If there's a storm or other dangerous weather, activities may pause; follow crew instructions and move to covered areas when asked.

Water and food

Free drinking water points are marked on the site map. Drink regularly, especially if you're playing games. Food and drinks are sold on site. Tell food vendors about allergies before you order.

First aid and medical help

A first-aid point with trained medics is open all day and is marked on the site map. If you or someone near you feels unwell, go there or tell any crew member in a Tech Ember Fest tee. In an emergency, medics may give treatment and call an ambulance; by attending you consent to receiving first aid if you can't consent yourself.

Security and bag checks

Security staff check bags and may search people at the entrance. Small bags only, please: it keeps queues short. We can refuse entry to anyone who won't be searched, and security may confiscate prohibited items.

What you can't bring

• Weapons of any kind, including knives and anything that could be used as one
• Illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia
• Outside alcohol, glass bottles and hard containers
• Fireworks, flares, lasers and smoke devices
• Drones, and professional camera, audio or streaming gear without written permission
• Large bags, chairs, gazebos and umbrellas with sharp tips
• Animals, except assistance animals
• Flyers, merchandise or sampling for promotion, unless you're an official partner

Alcohol and age

Alcohol is served only to guests aged 18 and over, and bar staff may ask for ID. We won't serve anyone who appears intoxicated. Minimum age for entry: [confirm: e.g. 16+, under-18s with an adult]. Please drink responsibly and never drink and drive.

Games and activities

Games are supervised by crew who will explain the rules. Take part only if you're fit to, warm up for physical games, and stop if you feel unwell or get hurt. Some activities may have their own safety briefing or height and age limits.

Lost property and lost people

Hand in or ask about lost items at the info point. Agree a meeting point with your group. If you're separated from someone, go to the info point and crew will help.

In an emergency

Tell the nearest crew member or security officer. If we need to evacuate, announcements will be made from the stage and crew will direct you to the nearest exit and assembly point. Stay calm, don't run, and follow instructions. Nigeria's national emergency number is 112.
