Code of conduct
Tech Ember Fest is for everyone who builds, and everyone around them. This code applies to all attendees, showcase teams, speakers, partners, volunteers and crew, at the venue and in our online spaces.
What we expect
- Be kind and welcoming, especially to people new to tech or new to Lagos.
- Respect people's boundaries, time and work. Ask before touching someone else's demo, device or project.
- Give feedback on showcases the way you'd want to receive it: honest, specific and generous.
- Follow crew and security instructions.
What isn't OK
- Harassment, intimidation or discrimination based on gender, sexuality, disability, ethnicity, religion, age, appearance or anything else
- Unwanted physical contact or sexual attention
- Photographing or recording someone after they've asked you not to
- Disrupting talks, showcases or games
- Aggressive selling, scams, or recruiting that people haven't asked for
How to report
Tell any crew member (they'll be in Tech Ember Fest tees) or go to the info point. You can also email techemberfest@gmail.com or call +234 703 054 6907, during or after the event. We'll listen, keep it confidential, and help you feel safe, including walking you to your ride.
What happens next
We act on every report. Depending on what happened we may warn someone, remove them from the event without a refund, ban them from future editions, or involve the police. Partners and speakers who breach the code may lose their slot.
